The MTE Series sine wave filters are designed to provide a sine wave output voltage frequency driver or other type of PWM inverter when driven from a variable with a switching frequency from 2kHz to 8kHz. For variable frequency drive (VFD) applications, the MTE sine wave filter eliminates motor/cable insulation problems, heating and audible noise. The sine wave filter also reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) by dV/dt associated with the inverter output waveform by eliminating high levels.
Applications - For alternative energy applications, such as wind turbines, where inverters are used to return electricity to a utility distribution system via a step-up transformer that meets the requirements of IEEE-519 and allows the use of standard transformers.
The added benefit of increased cable protection and the use of standard graded wires is an important benefit of using this standard cable. The MTE sine-wave filter prevents over-voltage problems in driving the motor for long periods of time.
